About the Jobst company The Jobst company was founded in Toeldo, Ohio in 1950. The company was founded by german born Conrad Jobst who suffered from venous insufficiency. Being a mechanical engineer as well as an inventor, he developed the graduated compression stocking to help alleviate his symptoms. After his death in 1957, his wife, Caroline Jobst continued to grow the company. She expanded the product line and sales expanded to every continent. The Jobst brand gained the reputation of quality and dependability. In 1990 the Jobst company was acquired by Beiersdorf AG of Hamburg Germany. The Beiersdorf AG Company was producing their own compression stocking line called VARITEX. Varitex was renamed Jobst in 1996. On April 2, 2001, the business was renamed BSN-JOBST when it became an affiliate company of BSN medical Inc., a joint venture holding company equally owned by Smith & Nephew and Beiersdorf. Today the Jobst brand is still manufactured in both Germany and North Carolina. |
